MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS JOINING AFTERGUARD
There is a one time $395 membership initiation cost to become a member. This can be waived if enrolling in three or more courses at membership initiation. One year of membership dues is required. To help make that requirement simple for all, the first year of whatever level is chosen is paid up front. Starting with the second year, dues can be paid monthly, or annually (saving 1mo).
Big Savings as a Charter Member
Charter Members can enjoy the special rates of 20% off courses and 40% off charter fleet rates plus many social benefits. Afterguard Members have their own special events plus enjoy cross membership in Oakland sailing Meetup at no additional charge. Events like the Woman's Sailing Seminar and Island Yacht Club races are open to Afterguard Members. Many fun events. Lots to keep you sailing and meeting others who love to sail.

Rental Fleet: 15'-23'=7 boats, 25-26=3 boats, 27'-28'= 2 boats, 31'-32'=2 boats, 33-35'=4 boats, Catamarans=1 boat, Dinghy 8-12 = 10
Inflatables 7-12'=6 boats and a single hydrobike = 36 watercraft.
Chief Members Sail 15' - 23' as much as they want. Great for frequent sailors.

Chief Plus Members 23' - 26'
Chief Plus Members, carry forward all the benefits of a Chief member and have unlimited use of boats 25'. Once certified to ASA-101 can take the boats out with one other of crew ability.

Boats: (2) Cal-2 25' inboard and Ranger 26 outboard = 3 boats
Skipper Members 27' - 31'
Skipper Members carry forward all the benefits of a Chief Plus member and have unlimited use of mid size vessels, once certified to ASA 103. Can take boat 27-31' with 1 first mate or cmpt crew.
Must have Boat US towing ins for saltwater and a CA Boater's Card.

Captain Members can weekend on 32' - 35'
Captain Members sail our larger size vessels once certified to ASA 104. Can take boats up to 35' with min of 1 Competent Crew or First Mate.

Membership is a great way to advance knowledge and to have easy affordable access to a fleet of boats. Membership makes you part of Afterguard Family. Start and end your sail from a welcoming place to share your sailing adventures.
All Members save 20% on courses. After initiation, can save 5% more if enrolling in a set of 2+ combination enrollments.
All Members save 40% on boat rentals for all boats or for boats larger than their Active unlimited use group.

Invitation to Island Yacht Club social events and races. We do not race our boats but Island member boats need crew often.
Member Benefits include: Pack of Sea Cards, great for learning the new vocabulary and play with dear ones. One free weekly practice sail April-Oct or can apply to 1st Sunday fun Bay Sail. Summer months host monthly post sail BBQs. Other benefits are: newsletters, first call on limited space courses and special events, crewing options for skippered charters, very affordable refresher rates.. Members can use the Small boat fleet (Catalina 12.5', Capri 14', Montgomery 15', Hunter 17' for $10-20 an hour. Members who want to learn to work on boats can help with restoration projects and once past the learning stage, can earn 'boat use' credits.
